The 5th Carlsbad Art Wall for 2023 was just completed by Jeff Kukasik, a self-taught artist and surfer from San Clemente, CA.
This is the 38th mural since the Art Wall started in 2015. As a result we’ve witnessed impressive diversity, creativity, and beauty over the past 8 years.
The Art Wall was founded by Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village.
The Carlsbad Art Wall gives residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy temporary public art by local, regional, and occasionally even international artists.
Bryan Snyder also founded the Carlsbad Alley Art Wall, and has completed multiple art projects in Carlsbad.
With advance announcements, the public is invited to watch artists paint their creations. Murals are typically completed over a 2-day period, commonly on Saturday and Sunday.
You’ve likely noticed the changing murals on the east-facing wall at Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant’s if you live in the area or have visited Carlsbad Village.
The Art Wall is just west of the train tracks, across the street from the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center. Thus, you can’t miss it as you head to the beach.
Carlsbad’s reputation for the arts continues to expand with abundant public art (interactive map on the City of Carlsbad website). There are art galleries, a performance theater, several arts and crafts fairs, and live music events throughout the year. As a result the Art Wall certainly has a special part in Carlsbad’s growing arts community!
