ABOUT ME

After 15 years in corporate Human Resources positions, my wife and I opened a successful art gallery in Cambridge, MA (across the river from Boston). We operated Mark Gallery from 2002 through 2004. I obtained my real estate license and began working for RE/MAX Destiny in Cambridge in June 2002. You may be aware that’s the home of Harvard University and MIT.

In the Spring of 2005 my wife and I made a big decision to relocate to Carlsbad, California. We bought our 9th primary home in the La Costa area of Carlsbad so we could be near the beaches. Furthermore, we wanted to not be too far from downtown San Diego. We also wanted to be close to Los Angeles where our older daughter lived after college.

I began working for RE/MAX Associates in Encinitas in June 2005. The company later became RE/MAX Moonlight Beach, after RE/MAX Associates was restructured in 2008.

I made the move to a new brokerage, Solutions Real Estate, soon after they opened their Carlsbad office, in January 2011. In January 2022 I moved to eXp Realty of California, Inc. (a cloud-based brokerage) in January 2020. I continue to work out of my home office in Carlsbad as I have since moving here from Boston in 2005. I typically meet new clients at local coffee shops or over Facetime!

My wife and I have been primary home buyers and sellers 10 times in 4 different states. I’ve owned and sold a business condo and 2 vacation properties, one waterfront. So I understand the issues of buying and selling from the consumer’s perspective. And I have had some challenging transactions to navigate. These experiences will benefit you whether you are buying, selling or doing both.

I DO understand the practical AND emotional aspects of what it’s like to buy and sell a home. My focus is on YOUR particular needs, time line, budget and lifestyle. EACH transaction is different and very personal.

I’ve completed 4 major relocations (Michigan to Boston, Boston to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Boston, and Boston to Carlsbad CA). I have moved very young children, pets, and cars and understand relocation well. Thus one of my specialties is working with buyers and sellers who are making a move to or from Southern California.

I am also familiar with the business side of relocation from my years as a Human Resources professional. My work included corporate relocation programs and packages, and working with relocation companies.

HOW MY TRAINING, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS BENEFIT YOU

Training, education and technology are incredibly important in the real estate business. They are esential and expected, if not demanded, by today’s buyers and sellers.  I keep current with today’s technology but also obtained my e-Pro Designation to expand my technology expertise.

I am 1 of the 3% of all REALTORS in the US with the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation. This required advanced coursework in technology, marketing, and strategies for assisting buyers and sellers. There were also rigorous production/experience requirements.

The value for you as a buyer or seller are the advanced strategies I know for marketing your home or helping you find the right property and acquiring it, my understanding and use of today’s technology. The personal touch is still important, however.  Experiences I’ve had in diverse buying and selling scenarios, personally and with many different clients, are also a benefit.

GIVING BACK TO THE REAL ESTATE COMMUNITY

I’ve been active in the national Residential Real Estate Council, or RRC (previously the Council of Residential Specialists or CRS) organization in various roles, and served on the leadership team for the CA RRC group co-chairing the Membership Committee (2017 – 2019). I began serving on the Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of CRS in 2007 (positions included Area Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and President-Elect).

I was the Chapter President for 2011, the year we won CRS Chapter of the Year. I also headed up the Technology Committee, and served as  the Technology Chair through 2014. I chaired several different committees at the National level for RRC, and also served as Regional Vice President for the New England Region from 2014 – 2016.

I strongly believe in ongoing education in this business so I can better help my clients, and continue to take classes and webinars so I can be the best I can be. This is in addition to the continuing education required for my real estate license every 4 years.

The networking and learning from involvement in the National Residential Real Estate Council organization has contributed significantly to my real estate education and knowledge. It has also enabled me to build a tremendous network of high-caliber agents around the country for referrals.

Let me know if I can help a friend, colleague or family member find the right REALTOR for their purchase or sale elsewhere in the country, in all the major metropolitan areas.

REFERRALS

Introductions to your valued friends, family and neighbors are an essential part of my business and the best compliment I can receive from you. I hope you will not keep me a secret!

I have a large, active referral agent database I use for outbound referrals around the country, so I can help if you are moving from this area to another part of the country. Because of my personal network I can also help your friends and family all over the US who need assistance finding a qualified real estate agent to help them with buying and/or selling.

WRAPPING UP

I am a big fan of beach life, both EAST and WEST. So you will read a lot from me on my blog about the areas near the Southern California beaches of North San Diego County, especially in Carlsbad where I live, and neighboring Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Del Mar, La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista.

Also check out my blog on ActiveRain, an online-real estate blogging community for lots of area and real estate information.

In addition to neighborhoods and communities, I talk about things to do, restaurants, shopping, recreation, tourist attractions, and much more. JUST ASK if you have any questions. And I’d love to hear from you about what you like about living in this beautiful part of our country.

I don’t get to enjoy the beach quite as much as I would like, but take time to appreciate the beautiful coastline we have whenever possible. If you have questions about the beaches and the communities nearby, please feel free to ask. I’ll share what I know, or will find out for you what I don’t.

Please check out My Success Stories to read what some buyer and seller clients have said about working with me. Rest assured I will provide the very same positive experience for you. And I will do the same for friends, family, neighbors or colleagues you refer to me for real estate guidance!
