The 3rd Carlsbad Art Wall mural of 2023 was just completed. And what a visual treat it is.
The artist was none other than founder and project curator of the #CarlsbadArtWall, Bryan Snyder. Bryan founded the art wall in 2015 in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village.
I believe this is the 36th mural since the Carlsbad Art Wall was founded. There has been some amazing diversity, creativity and beauty over the years, and many talented artists.
Bryan has collaborated with several of the Carlsbad Art Wall artists over the years. However, this was his first solo opportunity to showcase his artistic talent.
The mural is a visual delight and the colors are so vibrant. The “Dripping Boy” immediately evokes childhood memories of playing at the beach, don’t you think?
The Carlsbad Art Wall provides viewers the opportunity to enjoy temporary public art by local, regional, and even international artists.
The public is invited to watch artists at work on their creations, which are often painted over a 2-day period, often on the weekend.
You may not have heard the official name. However, you’ve likely noticed changing murals at Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant’s east-facing wall if you live in the area or have visited Carlsbad Village.
The Carlsbad Art Wall is west of the train tracks, across the street from the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center. It’s easy to spot as you head to the beach on Carlsbad Village Drive.
Carlsbad’s reputation as an arts community continues to expand with abundant public art. (This is a link to an interactive map on the City of Carlsbad website). Carlsbad has multiple art galleries, performance theater, several arts and crafts fairs, and live music events during the year.
Indeed, the Carlsbad Art Wall is a special part of Carlsbad’s growing and vibrant arts community!
Bryan also founded the Carlsbad Alley Art Wall, among other art projects in Carlsbad.
