The 2nd Carlsbad Art Wall mural of 2023 was completed last weekend by visual artist Ricky Watts from Northern California. Here’s the 1st Carlsbad Art Wall mural of 2023 in case you missed it!
This is the 35th mural since the Carlsbad Art Wall was founded. Thus there has been some impressive diversity, creativity and beauty over the years.
The #CarlsbadArtWall was founded by well-known Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, in 2015. This on-going project is in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village.
Bryan also founded the Carlsbad Alley Art Wall, as well as other art projects in Carlsbad.
The Carlsbad Art Wall is an opportunity to enjoy temporary public art by a broad range of talented artists.
The public is invited to watch the artists at work on their creations. Murals are typically painted over a weekend.
You may not have heard the official name. However, you’ve likely noticed the changing murals at Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant’s east-facing wall if you live in the area or have visited Carlsbad Village.
The Carlsbad Art Wall is just west of the train tracks, across the street from the Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center, as you head to the beach. As a result it’s easy to spot.
The Carlsbad Art Wall is a very special part of our vibrant arts community! Carlsbad’s reputation as an arts community continues to grow with abundant public art (interactive map on the City of Carlsbad website). There are multiple art galleries, a performance theater, multiple arts and crafts fairs, and live music events throughout the year.
