Carlsbad is well known for its 1-day art fairs, which are popular with residents and visitors as well as vendors who attend. And they are a big part of the Carlsbad Village lifestyle.
The 21st Art in the Village, sponsored by the Carlsbad Village Association, will take place Sunday August 11th, in downtown Carlsbad Village along State Street and Grand Avenue. The event is FREE and is open from 9 am until 5 pm.
If you are an art lover, or just have a modest interest, and want a fun event to enjoy on a summer Sunday, Carlsbad Art in the Village may be perfect, for browsing OR buying!!
Imagine! Works of art from more than 100 local and regional arts and crafts artists, plus art demonstrations.
No matter what your artistic preferences, you will no doubt be impressed with the variety of arts and crafts on display – fine art, classical and contemporary sculpture, hand-painted clothing, pottery and ceramics, jewelry, painting (watercolors, oils, acrylics, and mixed media), wood working, furniture, and accessories.
Be sure to bring your wallet and have some fun!
Once again the City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Department will host a Family Open Studios, a free art-making work shop for all. And there will be a Student Art Pavilion with art work by young, up and coming artists.
And you’ll enjoy live music as well (speaking of music – don’t forget the Carlsbad Music Festival is the weekend before!).
We usually can expect pretty good weather for August to enjoy being outdoors and just 2-blocks from the beach. But keep in mind that Carlsbad Village fairs are always crowded, with thousands of visitors, so you can expect some parking challenges in town (parking is free), and consider your time accordingly.
The Coaster is close by (right in the heart of the Village just a short walk from the fair area) if you prefer public transportation or are coming from a distance.
And if you actually get tired of the fair, there are lots of retailers in the Village in the downtown area to visit, and great places to dine in the heart of Carlsbad Village either during or after the event. And of course our beautiful Carlsbad beaches are just a couple of blocks away.
