The Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe in Carlsbad

The Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe in Carlsbad is a casual, family owned café and bakery business, founded in 1994.

This place has a retro style, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and of course LOTS of different pies to buy by the slice or whole pie (I recommend the whole one if you are taking out, but that’s just personal preference!). You can sit at a table or enjoy counter service all day, from 7 am until 9 pm Monday through Saturday, and 7 am to 8 pm on Sundays. They have outdoor dining, too.

I can’t say which pie is my favorite as I am still working on trying them (there are over 2 dozen types of pies) but the strawberry rhubarb last night, warm with vanilla ice cream of course, was pretty special.

The Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe is located at 950 Tamarack Avenue, at the corner of Pio Pico right by the I-5 freeway and across the street from the VONS Grocery Store; despite the name it is NOT in Carlsbad Village, but it’s convenient! You can reach them at (760) 729-6414. This place is well worth a visit!

And the Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe was even highlighted in the March/April edition of Carlsbad Magazine.
