The New Carlsbad Village Art Hop

Carlsbad Village Holiday Showcase Makers Market

Carlsbad has quite the reputation as an arts community, and for good reason – here are just some of the things Carlsbad is known for:  Art galleries including the city-owned Cannon Art Gallery, Multiple arts and crafts fairs, plenty of public art including sculpture and wall murals, the Carlsbad Art Wall at Senor Grubby’s (founded by Carlsbad artist Bryan Snyder – see photo below), the New Village Arts Theater, the TGIF Concerts in the Parks series in the summer, and the Museum of Making Music.

We have a long-running art walk, and now art lovers can enjoy the first Carlsbad Village Art Hop on March 22 from 5 until 8 pm, courtesy of the Carlsbad Village Association.

What’s really fun about this event is you can hop from one venue, to the second, and then to a third, enjoying beautiful art, meeting the artists who created it, live music (who doesn’t enjoy that), refreshments and some interactive options (e.g., sculpting, egg crafting).

The three art venues are the well-known:

Foundry Artist Studios – open house with 16 artists and Bryan Snyder’s interactive egg crafting

Viz Art Ink Gallery – wide range of art work from 12+ artists, with music and a demo

Carlsbad Village Faire – this popular shopping and dining venue will feature pop-up art galleries in the courtyard, the COAL Gallery (Carlsbad Oceanside Art League), and the Lynn Forbes Sculpting Studio. Live music, light refreshments from Village Fair restaurants.

Two more Carlsbad Village Art Hops are planned for June 28 and September 27 – stay tuned for more information on these events.
