The 1st Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW) mural of 2021, and the 27th overall, was recently completed on January 2nd and 3rd, and it’s another winner…with a powerful message for everyone!
The newest mural, “Kindness Unites,” was a collaboration between artist Andrea J’Neene Team and the Carlsbad global non-profit, Kids for Peace with Jill McManigal (co-founder and executive director) that sponsors the Great Kindness Challenge and several other programs.
The 2021 Great Kindness Challenge starts tomorrow, January 25th and runs through Friday January 29th.
If you live in the area or have visited Carlsbad, you likely have driven by this colorful wall as you head to the beach on Carlsbad Village Drive. Even if you aren’t aware of the official #CarlsbadArtWall name you may have observed the changing murals on the east-facing wall of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant, just west of the train tracks.
The Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW) was founded in 2015 by well-known Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s in Carlsbad Village. The Carlsbad Art Wall is a special venue for residents and visitors to enjoy temporary public art by local, regional and international artists, with several new murals each year.
Carlsbad has a reputation as a growing and changing arts community, with abundant public art (an interactive map). The Carlsbad Art Wall is a wonderful part of our expanding and vibrant arts community!
Muralists invite the public to watch them at work, and murals are painted over a weekend. This particular mural creation involved quite a number of children adding their own messages to the wall – here are some photos.
The #CarlsbadArtWall is a fun, public opportunity for artists to showcase their creativity and messages for visitors and residents to enjoy for a few months, and is a very special addition to our Village by the Sea!
This particular mural has a special message for all in 2021 and beyond – hope for many days of kindness, positivity and unity!
