The San Diego County Fair opens Wednesday June 12, 2024, less than a month away, and runs through July 7th.
The San Diego County Fair is one of the nation’s largest fairs. Gate hours are 11 am to 10 pm Wednesday through Sunday (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). But some activities and rides will remain open after the gates close for the day.
For 2024 the San Diego County Fair theme is “Let’s Go Retro.” So why not get out there and enjoy all the County Fair has to offer in keeping with this theme.
The Del Mar Fairgrounds are well known for a variety of events throughout the year, including trade expos and concerts. Indeed the Fairgrounds may be best know for Thoroughbred Racing Season. Stay tuned for updates on the 2024 horse racing season dates and more.
The Del Mar Fairgrounds are just off the I-5 freeway at the Via de la Valle exit, at 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard. Call (858) 755-1161 for more information.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY FAIR?
You can plan on abundant food concessions, shopping opportunities, games and rides, competitive exhibits, animals, live concerts, and so much more. And of course plan on some crowds especially on the weekends and the holiday.
There’s a terrific line-up for the Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Grandstand Center Stage with multiple well-known performers.
There will of course be a fireworks display on July 4th. They can be seen at a distance so you do not need to be at the Fair to enjoy them, unless you wish to be up close.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online, and there is a range of prices (adult, senior, youth, kids). Ticket sales will be limited each day and could sell out so don’t delay. A limited number of tickets will be available at the gate (sorry, no cash sales). Why not save time and some money by purchasing in advance?
Be aware that parking at the Fairgrounds is limited. General Parking is priced at $20 per vehicle, and it’s $50 for Preferred Parking. There are a number of off-site parking options, with shuttles. Learn more about parking and buy parking passes here.
Plan on heavier traffic around the Fairgrounds, on nearby side streets, the Coast Road/Route 101, and especially the I-5 freeway near the Via de la Valle exit on the days the Fair is open.
