The latest Carlsbad Art Wall mural was just completed this past weekend, on the east-facing wall of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant on Carlsbad Village Drive.
As many residents know, the Carlsbad Art Wall has been in place since 2015, with multiple wall murals painted each year by local, regional (commonly Los Angeles) and some international artists. This public wall project was the creation of Bryan Snyder, a well-known Carlsbad artist, in cooperation with Senor’s Grubby’s owner.
The creator of this wall mural is Chimp, an artist from New Zealand, who is here in the US on a residency program – Street Artist in Residence – based in San Clemente CA.
Chimp often paints large-scale birds and animals, as well as using abstract imagery, in his creations. This bird creation is certainly fitting, given our seaside community.
