Goodbye Carlsbad Art & Antique Mall!

The Carlsbad Art & Antique Mall in Carlsbad Village

You have probably heard either in person or saw somewhere in the news online that the Carlsbad Art and Antique Mall is going away, after decades on State Street in Carlsbad Village. I believe it’s actually officially closed now.

Other victims of the change include the Mas Fina Cantina, another long-timer and a popular casual bar and eatery, plus a jewelry store and a yoga center (and perhaps others I am not sure of but have read about – 2 automobile repair shops, an insurance office, an apartment complex).

So you probably also know that all this will be replaced by a 21,000 sf upscale retail and restaurant center, called State Street Commons.

Here is some information I found about what is to come. Time will tell how State Street Commons really will look, and feel, and who the tenants will be. Hopefully they have done some good planning regarding parking and traffic.

The North State area of the Village has been growing and changing in many ways (e.g., new townhomes in 2015 – 2016 and a few others currently under construction, new restaurants [Campfire, Jeune et Jolie, Handel’s Ice Cream]) and no doubt will continue.

Stay tuned for more updates as I find them…and please feel free to eave your comments and thoughts, and information you find!
