Earth Month Celebration Event on April 6

April is Earth Month and Carlsbad will host a fun and environmentally-focused celebration on Saturday April 6. Did you know that April 22nd is the 54th Anniversary of the first Earth Day held in 1970?

The celebration takes place at Pine Avenue Community Park at 3209 Harding Street, from 9 am until 1 pm.

You can expect the following:

  1. Learn about smart food storage and food extending and reduce food waste.
  2. Take part in a clothing swap. You can bring gently used clothing such as t-shirts, jackets and jeans.
  3. Learn about gardening in small spaces, and growing vegetables and pickling them.
  4. Kids’ bike rodeo
  5. Make sustainable beeswax wraps and produce bags

Republic Services (the trash, recycling, compost vendor in Carlsbad) will also host a Compost and Mulch Giveaway in the Carlsbad Senior Center Parking Lot. Bags of organic mulch and compost will be available or bring your own container. This is a drive-through event.
