Earth Day Celebrations in Carlsbad April 21, 2018

Carlsbad has been celebrating Earth Month all April, with a number of events for residents including a hazardous waste drop-off and a shred and recycle event. But there is still time to celebrate Earth Day, officially taking place on Sunday April 22.

NOTE – These events are all on Saturday April 21.

First, the Creek to Bay Clean-up on Haymar Drive from 9 am until Noon, Saturday April 21. There is still time to sign up for this 16th Annual Creek to Bay cleanup at multiple sites around the county. In Carlsbad the event will be held along Haymar Drive (parallel to the 78 freeway) in north Carlsbad to pick up trash. Volunteers are requested to NOT park at the Carlsbad Golf Center at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Or join the Earth Day Celebration at the Georgina Cole Library at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive near the Village from 9 am until 1 pm, in conjunction with the Ecology Center. There will be lots of fun with live music, experiential learning, environmental education, a documentary movie, crop swapping, composting workshops from 9:30 – 10:15 OR  12 – 12:45 (register in advance), a double decker bus with an environmental education experience, community garden tours (adjacent to the library), environmental booths, and more.

Finally, take advantage of the Donate Don’t Waste Collection event near Fire Station 1 at 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive. This collection event is shared with Goodwill Industries and Waste Management. Instead of taking items to the landfill, you can donate small home appliances, small furniture items, electronics, housewares and home décor, sporting goods, and gently used clothing, shoes and accessories that will be reused by various Goodwill programs.
