Christmas Tree Recycling in Carlsbad

Earth Month 2024 Events in Carlsbad

Free Christmas Tree Recycling in Carlsbad is available until January 14, 2024

Christmas is behind us, and some may already be thinking about taking down the holiday tree.

As in past years, the City of Carlsbad offers free, curbside Christmas Tree Recycling for residents from December 26th through January 14th.

Curbside pickup is on the regular trash pick-up day unless it falls on the Christmas and New Year’s observed holidays. Keep in mind trash pick-up may be delayed during the week after these holidays. (here’s the Carlsbad holiday tree in the Village in case you haven’t seen it).

Place your Christmas trees next to the green compost bin at curbside. Be sure to remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and tree stands. If possible cut the tree and place it in the Green Waste recycling bin for pick-up

If your tree is taller than 6 feet it must be cut in half and placed next to the green compost cart.

Moreover, flocked trees and those with fire retardant cannot be recycled.

Carlsbad converts the Christmas trees into mulch for use around San Diego County.

Furthermore, Carlsbad provides convenient drop-off bins for residents’ Christmas trees until January 14th. Here are the locations:

Calavera Hills Community Park – 2997 Glasgow Drive

Poinsettia Community Park – 6600 Hidden Valley Road

Stagecoach Community Park – 3420 Camino de los Coches
