Christmas Tree Recycling in Carlsbad 2021

Carlsbad Community Services

As they have in the past, the City of Carlsbad is offering free, curbside pickup for Carlsbad residents, starting December 26th and through January 15th.

You also have the option to use the drop-off bins for Christmas trees until January 15th. See the list below of available drop-off locations.

If you want to have curbside pickup on your regular trash pick-up day trees should be placed at the end of your driveway next to your green waste bin.

NOTE: If your tree is taller than 6 feet it can be cut in half then placed next to the green waste bin. If possible you should cut the tree and place it in the Green Waste recycling bin for pick-up.

NOTE: Flocked trees cannot be recycled and must be picked up as regular trash (place in your trash bin with the lid closed)

Be sure to remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and tree stands before recycling your tree. Carlsbad converts the trees into mulch for use around San Diego County.

Here are the 4 drop-off locations for residents to use for their tree recycling:

Calavera Hills Community Park – 2997 Glasgow Drive
Stagecoach Community Park – 3420 Camino de los Coches
Poinsettia Community Park – 6600 Hidden Valley Road
Carlsbad Fire Station 1 – 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive

And also the Waste Management Facility at 5960 El Camino Real

Please contact Waste Management at (760) 929-9400 with any questions, or visit the Waste Management website. You’ll find plenty of information about other services that Waste Management provides including 2 buy-back recycling centers, in Carlsbad and Oceanside.
