Carlsbad’s Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Carlsbad will have its own Dia de los Muertos Celebration on October 28 and 29, at the same time as other similar celebrations in the San Diego area (e.g., Old Town, and the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside).

The Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Carlsbad takes place at the well-known Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch Park in the Rancho Carrillo community, off Melrose south of Palomar Airport Road.

Saturday Oct 28 you can take candlelight tours of the Hacienda beginning at 6 pm. Advance reservations are needed. You will get to see the offerings to Leo Carrillo, his wife, and his daughter (the “ofrendas”) and enjoy traditional refreshments. The cost is $15

Sunday Oct. 29 from 10 to 3 you can enjoy the Family Open Studio (craft making), make tortillas, and enjoy live performances. Food will be available to purchase.The event is FREE.
