Carlsbad Celebrates Earth Month 2019 in April – POSTPONED

Carlsbad Village Holiday Showcase Makers Market

NOTE: Given the Stay-at-Home Order in place in California as of March 19th due to the coronavirus, all Earth Month 2020 activities will either be postponed or canceled.

Carlsbad is celebrating Earth Month during the month of April 2020, with a number of events for residents.

The Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event takes place on Saturday April 6th. Open to Carlsbad residents (proof of residency required) and an appointment is necessary.

Next up, the Earth Day Celebration at the Cole Library, just east of Carlsbad Village at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. The event takes place on Saturday April 13th from 9 am until 2 pm. There will be lots of fun with live music, experiential learning, environmental education, a documentary movie, crop swapping, composting workshops and more.  Advanced registration for the Composting workshops is required.

On April 13th you can also take advantage of the Donate Don’t Waste Collection event near Fire Station 1 at 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive from 9 am until 1 pm. This event is in partnership with Waste Management and Goodwill of San Diego. Rather than taking stuff to the dump, donate small home appliances, small furniture items, electronics, house-wares & home décor, sporting goods, and gently used clothing, shoes and accessories that can be reused by Goodwill programs. Registration.

Saturday April 20th is the Shred and Recycle It event. Registration is required and runs from April 1 through April 19. Proof of residency is required. This is a great opportunity to get your sensitive documents shredded for free!

The Creek to Bay Clean-up takes place in Carlsbad, and other locations around the County, from 9 am until Noon on Saturday April 27th. Registration begins April 1 for the 17th Annual Creek to Bay Clean-up.  Celebrate Arbor Day by helping the Parks and Recreation Department, and other Carlsbad residents, plant trees along the Coastal Rail Trail south of Oak Avenue from 9 until 10:30 am. Did you know that Carlsbad is a Tree City USA and has been for 14 years as of June 2018?
