The Carlsbad Art Beach Chair in Carlsbad Village will be unveiled this coming Sunday.
This new piece of public art in Carlsbad is being unveiled as part of the Annual Art in the Village Fair August 11th taking place from 9 am until 5 pm.
The Carlsbad Art Beach Chair was designed and constructed by a local artist, Michael Stutz, and artist Ron Juncal painted it. I sure look forward to seeing it myself by the fountain at the corner of Grand Avenue and State Street! What a great idea for public art in our Village by the Sea!
Of course you will also want to spend some time wandering the streets of the Village (Grand and State) to enjoy this year’s 21st Art in the Village Fair, with 110 local and regional artists.
You are sure to be impressed with the variety of arts and crafts – hand-painted clothing, fine art, classical and contemporary sculpture, pottery, ceramics, all kinds of jewelry, paintings (watercolors, oils, acrylics, and mixed media), wood working, furniture, and accessories.
There will be live demonstrations of painting, glass-blowing and sculpting to enjoy.
The City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Department will also host a Family Open Studios. This is a fun, and free, art-making work shop with projects for all.
You’ll also be able to enjoy the art work of up and coming young artists from Carlsbad’s middle and high schools at the Student Art Pavilion.
There will be plenty of food, and live music. And of course if you should tire of the fair you can always enjoy exploring the Village retailers and eateries, or hit the beach!
Perhaps I’ll see you there!
