The 14th annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer Festival is coming up fast, in about 2 weeks. This event may be one of the favorites of dog lovers and their dogs in our area!
The Cardiff Dog Days of Summer Festival will be held at the Encinitas Community Park, at 425 Santa Fe Drive, adjacent to the Maggie Houlihan Dog Park, Sunday August 11th from 10 am until 5:00 pm.
The Cardiff Dog Days of Summer Festival has become the largest and most popular canine-focused event in the San Diego area, and when you realize all that goes on it’s easy to understand why it’s so popular.
Reportedly over 5000 attended last year and no doubt there will be a pretty good crowd again this year. The Festival is sponsored by the Cardiff 101 Main Street Association with multiple other sponsors!
There will be over 100 vendors at the Dog Days of Summer Festival, featuring dog products and services, live music, activities for kids, food trucks, a beer garden, and the popular dog contests.
Rancho Coastal Humane Society will present “Rescue Row” with all proceeds benefiting the organization; 16 dogs were adopted last year.
The festival will also feature a “Makers Market Row” with hand-made products from 30 local artisans, and an agility course created by Kamp Kanine.
The Pet Health Expo will offer a range of pet services including micro-chipping, pet licensing, vaccinations and more.
Just imagine hours of fun for you and your pooch, or come and enjoy all the festivities even if you don’t have a dog; this could be a great opportunity to adopt a dog if you are so inclined at the Rescue Row!!
The Dog Contests begin at 10:30, with registration for the Dog Contests is from 9:45 until 10:15 – be aware that registration is limited so arrive early. The Blessing of the Dogs is at 10:15.
There are six categories so you are sure to find the one that best fits your fur friend – Cutest Puppy, Best Looking Big Dog, Best Looking Small Dog, Best Looking Medium Dog, Best Trick, and Best Dressed. The entry fee is $10 (cash) or $12 credit/debit, and All contestants will get a free photo at the photo booth.
