California Wine Festival in Carlsbad

Park Hyatt Aviava Resort in Carlsbad CA

June 20th is the 1st day of summer, and the California Wine Festival in Carlsbad takes place soon after.

If you are a wine lover and foodie this Festival is a terrific opportunity to taste fine wines and enjoy some special appetizers.

The Festival is Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29, at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad. The California Wine Festival is actually a series of events. There are similar events in Dana Point (this past April 19 and 20), Santa Barbara (July 19 and 20) and Huntington Beach (November 8 and 9).

The Festival will feature rare and reserve vintages, as well as wines from some of California’s most popular wineries. And you don’t have to travel far to enjoy them.

I attended a food and wine event at the Park Hyatt a few years ago and the setting is beautiful. What a fun way to start off summer with good wine, abundant food and luxurious ambiance. Plus you get to enjoy live music, ocean views and coastal breezes. Hopefully June Gloom will not make an appearance, but don’t let it dampen your spirits if it does.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE CALIFORNIA WINE FESTIVAL

On Friday event enjoy the Sunset Rare and Reserve Wine Tasting at The Gardens from 6:30 to 9:30.

On Saturday experience the Beachside Wine Festival on the Heron Lawn from 1 to 4 pm (entry for VIPS is noon).

Certainly if there is wine you should also have some good food to accompany it. As a result, you’ll find an impressive selection of food vendors from Carlsbad and North San Diego County at both events. Here’s the complete list of food purveyors.

You can buy tickets here for either event, or both, including the VIP Pavilion. Ticket prices range from $65 to $195 plus tax. It’s getting late so don’t wait – some tickets are expected to sell out.

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort is off Aviara Parkway, at 7100 Aviara Resort Drive, Carlsbad 92011. You can expect it to be crowded so plan to arrive early as it may take some time to get into the resort and park.
