No, it’s not in Carlsbad. However, if you enjoy Brazilian jazz the Brasil Jazz Festa is a winner.
The Brasil Jazz festa takes place on Sunday November 19 at Dizzy’s Jazz Club from 6 to 9 pm. Dizzy’s Jazz Club is located at 1717 Morena Boulevard in San Diego.
I have a particular fondness for this annual event. We attended the first 4 festivals when they were held in Encinitas at the public library starting in 2008. Moreover, we’ve been to a number of the Brasil Jazz Festas since they moved to Dizzy’s Jazz Club in San Diego, and the music is always wonderful.
Here’s who is performing at the 2023 Brasil Jazz Festa:
Allison Adams Tucker (producer and vocalist) – visit Allison’s website. She is a multi-lingual vocalist with a national and international reputation plus multiple albums to her credit.
Danny Green Trio (Danny Green – Piano; Julien Cantelm – percussion; Justin Grinnell – bass). Read more about the Danny Green Trio here and watch 2 videos. This talented trio has won 2 San Diego Music Awards. Furthermore they’ve performed at multiple clubs and festivals around the country.
Natalie Cressman (trombone, vocals) and Ian Faquini (guitar, vocals), a well-known Bay Area Brazilian duo with a national and international reputation. Additionally, you can read more about this popular duo here.
Tickets at $25 may be purchased online here. Seating is reserved in order of ticket purchases.
Tickets may be purchased at the door for $30 unless the event is sold out (cash and Venmo only). Dizzy’s is a relatively small venue. As a result It’s probably smart to buy tickets in advance to not miss out.
Dizzy’s Jazz Club is in Arias Hall behind the Musicians Association Building at 1717 Morena Boulevard, San Diego. In addition, parking is free.
