Carlsbad is home to a number of premier athletic events, and the Carlsbad 5000, is considered the world’s fastest 5K run. This internationally known and popular race will be held this coming Sunday March 25th in Carlsbad, the 33rd year, with the Junior Carlsbad 5000 run on Saturday the 24th!
Unfortunately if you have not registered you will have to wait until the day of race, if there is still room, as online registrations are closed for all events – the 5000 (all runs) and the Junior Carlsbad 5000.
The Carlsbad 5000 weekend is filled with festivities, with a Junior race on Saturday along with the Health and Fitness Expo. Sunday brings 6 separate races for adults including the big one, the All Day 4 x 5K, starting with the Masters Men 40 and over just before 7 am.
The 2018 Carlsbad 5000 Health and Fitness expo, held both days at the parking lots on Roosevelt Street between Grand and Carlsbad Village Drive in Carlsbad Village. The Expo, with lots of vendors will include live music headlined by Betamaxx at the finish line. Along with plenty of food we can expect another fun-filled weekend along the Carlsbad coast.
Health and Fitness Expo hours are 7 am – 1 pm on Saturday, and 6:30 am – 1 pm on Sunday.
You can expect plenty of participants and spectators, so plan to arrive early to find parking. And as with other Carlsbad races, there will be a number of road closures.
A number of charities will benefit from the proceeds of this popular event, including the World Wildlife Fund.
