About Jeff
-
After 15 years in corporate Human Resources positions, my wife and I opened a successful art gallery in Cambridge, MA. Shortly thereafter I obtained my real estate license and began working for RE/MAX Destiny in Cambridge (home of Harvard University and MIT).After 3 years my wife and I made the decision to relocate to Carlsbad California in the Spring of 2005 and bought our 9th home in the La Costa area of Carlsbad so we could be near the beaches.
I began working for RE/MAX Associates in Encinitas in June 2005 (I work primarily in my home office), which later became RE/MAX Moonlight Beach, created after RE/MAX Associates was restructured in 2008.
I made the move to a new broker, SOLUTIONS REAL ESTATE with a new small office in Carlsbad in January 2011.
I have been a primary home buyer and seller 10 times, and have bought and sold a business condo and 2 vacation properties (one waterfront), in 4 different states. So I understand the issues of buying and selling from the consumer’s perspective, and have had some difficult transactions, all of which benefits YOU.
I have relocated a number of times and understand it well. I have moved very young children, pets, and cars, and really enjoy working with buyers and sellers who are making a significant move. Plus I am familiar with the business side of relocation from my years as a Human Resources professional, including Corporate Relocation Programs.
Training, education and technology are incredibly important in the real estate business, and are needed and expected, if not demanded, by today’s buyers and sellers. I keep current with today’s technology but also obtained my e-Pro Designation to expand my technology expertise.
I became an Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) because I believe strongly in consumer advocacy. Having a buyer agent is much like having your own attorney – someone who is looking out for YOUR interests as a buyer, just as a seller has a listing (seller’s) agent.
I am 1 of the 3% of all REALTORS with the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation, which required advanced coursework in technology, referrals, and buyer and seller strategies, and had rigorous production requirements. The value for you as a buyer or seller are the many advanced strategies I know how to use for marketing your home or helping you find the right property, my understanding of today’s technology, and the experience I have had in a wide range of buying and selling scenarios.
The SFR Certification (Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource) focuses on helping homeowners who are in hardship situations and owe more on their homes than the value in today’s market. And the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) certification provided additional training on working with the senior population (i.e., communities that are age restricted to 55+).
I am active in the Council of Residential Specialists organization at the state level to support their educational programs in Southern California and to continue my own real estate education, and began serving on the Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of the CRS in 2007 (Area Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and President-Elect). I was the President for 2011, as well as heading up the Technology Committee, and continue to serve as the Technology Chair. I am also the Co-Chair of the Educational Forum for the National CRS organization for 2013.
Introductions for your valued friends, family and neighbors are an essential part of my business and the best compliment I can receive. I have an large, active referral agent database I use for outbound referrals around the country, so I can help if you are moving from this area, and can assist friends and family all over the country who need help finding a qualified real estate agent to assist them in buying and/or selling.
I am a big fan of the beach life, both EAST and WEST. So you will read a lot from me about the areas near the Southern California beaches of North County San Diego, especially in Carlsbad where I live, and neighboring Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Del Mar, La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista - things to do, restaurants, shopping, recreation, tourist attractions and much more.
I don’t get to enjoy the beach as much as I would like, but try to take some time to appreciate the beautiful coastline we have whenever possible. If you have questions about the beaches and the communities nearby, please feel free to ask…I’ll tell you what I know, OR find out what I don’t.
