The Scream Zone 2020 in Del Mar is Open

Halloween Events in Carlsbad

The 2020 Scream Zone at the Del Mar Fairgrounds opened October 1st and will run through Halloween October 31st.

The Scream Zone has been a popular Halloween event in San Diego for 23 years. But things are different this year because of the pandemic!

In 2020 the Scream Zone is a drive-through haunting for standard sized vehicles only; no over-sized vehicles (e.g., RVs, limos) or motorcycles will be permitted. And the number of vehicles per hour is limited.

Halloween Jack-o-Lanterns

The Scream Zone has a reputation as the largest, and perhaps scariest, event in the San Diego area. This year’s event, although it’s a different format, is sure to please Halloween enthusiasts

Here are the drive-through haunted attractions along the mile-long course you’ll “enjoy” from your car:

Dead End Truck Stop, Conjuring Row, Clown Alley, Horror Icon Way and Nightmare on Elm Street, Fury Road, Mine Shaft trail, Dusk Til Dawn, Zombie Carnival Row

You can order tickets online, or purchase them at the box office on the day of your “fright”, with prices that vary depending on the day (Sunday through Thursday vs. Friday and Saturday) and how many people are in the vehicle (4 or less vs. 5 or more).

The Scream Zone hours are 7 to 11 pm Friday and Saturday, and 7 to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday. See the calendar for the actual dates the Scream Zone is open.

The Scream Zone is located at the Del Mar Fair Grounds at 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard at the corner of Via de la Valle off the I-5 freeway and just to the west. For more information please call 858-755-1161.
