I should have written this long ago, and by now you have probably have already discovered it – Clever Element Gallery in Carlsbad Village (open since November 2015).
When I dropped by in early 2016 I was thrilled with my discovery…two, really – owner/creator Andreea Borcea and inspiring creations by local artists, independent designers, and Fair-Trade artisans from around the world. Clever Element is NOT your ordinary shop!
Clever Element offers a unique shopping experience in a light-filled, upbeat space where you can learn about the various artisans who have created the beauty you see in front of you. What I especially liked is that Andreea recognizes the value of showcasing diverse artistic creations, whether it’s clothing, jewelry or paintings, in a manner that allows you to really see and enjoy them as a more traditional art gallery might, as opposed to a typical retailer.
Another plus? Knowing that all artisans and artists get 50% of what Clever Element sells means they are able to live sustainably and improve their communities, without sweat shops and child labor!
If you haven’t yet discovered Clever Element stop by, meet and talk with Andreea, and check out all the gallery has to offer. It will be a pleasurable experience and I think you’ll find it hard to leave without buying something for yourself or a perfect gift for a loved one. By the way they offer gift wrapping! And watch for their art classes and live music!
